VRV Systems

VRV (or Variable Refrigerant Volume) is a relatively new commercial HVAC technology pioneered by Daikin, the world’s leading HVAC manufacturer.  The system offers a great deal of flexibility and efficiency in that it sends only the refrigerant needed to the evaporator(s) to maintain the comfort level set at the thermostat.  This is opposed to traditional systems, which kick on when temperatures drop above or below a certain point and continue working until the desired temperature is reached.

Additionally, the typical VRV system includes one outdoor unit that can power multiple indoor units, each of which are individually controlled.  This adds to the flexibility of the system, creating multiple “zones” throughout large buildings.
