$24 – $32 an hour – Full-time

DESCRIPTION:

At Modular Mechanical Service, we provide customers with specialized solutions for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems for commercial, institutional, and industrial use. We are seeking an experienced HVAC Service Technician to join our team.

As a Service Technician, you will perform maintenance, troubleshoot, and perform repairs and work on factory-authorized start-ups of commercial HVAC equipment including chillers, air handlers, heat pumps, unit ventilators, cooling towers, boilers, and VRV (Variable Refrigerant Volume) systems.

Tremendous opportunity for someone who has an EPA Refrigeration Certification at Level II or higher. We prefer someone with formal HVAC training and a minimum of 2-3 years prior commercial HVAC experience. OSHA 10-hour certification is a plus.

You must be able to communicate on a professional level both orally and in writing. The ability to use email and fill out reports in Excel, Word, or on customer reports is required.

You must possess a valid NY Driver’s license free of infractions at the time of hire and maintain such throughout employment. Must be willing to travel outside the area of Rochester to Syracuse and Buffalo to service customers from time to time.

How will you be rewarded?
Excellent hourly rate depending on the experience you have. Discretionary bonus available based on performance and specified time commitment.

Modular Mechanical Service
Syracuse, NY
$23 – $24 an hour – Full-time

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Troubleshoot and repair customer’s HVAC units that are brought into the main facility. Prepare report of work performed on each unit, including diagnosis, repairs made, parts used and labor hours. Use company specific software for each assignment’s information and advise Service Coordinator status of each assignment.

Coordinate shipping and receiving for UPS, FedEx and other freight carriers. Inspect incoming freight for accuracy of orders and note any damages and/or shortages. 

• Operate fork-lift or pallet jack in safe manner. 
• Unpack boxes or containers, place stock in designated area.
• Prepare orders for shipment and assemble orders for service calls.  
• Pick up parts and equipment from wholesalers to facilitate technicians’ assignments.
• Keep warehouse and shop repair area free of trash and debris and broom swept.
• During inclement weather, keep doorways and sidewalk areas clear when needed.

Performs other tasks as directed by the Service Manager and Service Coordinator, including, but not limited to; lightbulb replacement, filter changes, troubleshooting HVAC units, etc at the company facility. 

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:

• Must possess and maintain EPA certification at Level II or higher.
• Must have, at time of hire and maintain throughout employment, a valid NYS driver’s license free of major infractions.
• Must have prior Commercial HVAC experience.
• Experience with Water Source Heat Pumps required.
• Formal HVAC training preferred.
• Must be able to independently diagnose and repair HVAC equipment and have a mechanical background with equipment repair as well as be able to follow directions from the Service Manager and Service Coordinator.
• Strong electrical background in troubleshooting and repair of electrical/electronic control devices and circuits
• Prior customer service experience preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to analyze and solve problems.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to gather data, compile information and prepare routine paperwork.
• Must be computer literate and have familiarity with Microsoft Office software.
