Description: This is a discussion of central station chilled water systems and the means for which they reject heat. A comparative is made of the different types of chilled water systems with specific attention paid to the condenser loop. Different methods of heat rejection are presented and how each affects plant efficiencies, layout considerations and design strategies for optimizing the chilled water system. New evaporative heat rejection technologies are also presented which place an emphasis on low water consumption and public safety.
